We still need 2 coolers for lunches. Please let me know if you have one we can borrow.
On Tuesday, children are to be at school no later than 8:00 a.m. and will return at approximately 2:00 p.m. Students will need to bring a sack lunch and disposable water bottle with their name labeled on both. NO LUNCHBOXES PLEASE. We will be eating at the Center and do not want to lose any nice lunchboxes or water bottles. Please also include an extra snack, in a separate bag labeled with their name. Students need to wear their uniform and tennis shoes. This will be a fun trip!
Almost a Third Grader (wow!)
Can you believe it is almost the end of second grade? We still have lots to learn and practice over the next few weeks, so please continue to support your child and encourage him or her to do their best. Our learning continues right up until the last day of school and our expectations are as high on that day as they are on the first day. With this in mind, please know that we are working hard to be ready for third grade, both academically and behaviorally. Academically we will be working especially closely on our writing and grammar conventions, as well as reviewing second grade math skills. Please continue to support reading and fluency sweeps at home to continue reading growth. We will also be writing more and more in cursive, including taking spelling tests entirely in cursive by the end of the year. Please do help your child practice their words in cursive in anticipation of this end of the year goal. Right now we're doing a blend of cursive and print on homework, but that will slowly switch to all cursive too. Third grade will be almost entirely in cursive, so we want the students to be prepared for that transition.

Volunteer!
We are seeking parent support for our library time: Mondays from 12:20-12:45
Here is an opportunity to help our class without a huge time commitment! We need a parent volunteer to aid during our library time which is from 12:20- 12:25 on Mondays. You can help any capacity that you feel comfortable with...
* Read a book to the class
* Assist scholars looking for books
* Check books in and out of the computer system
You do need to be fingerprinted to assist in this capacity. It's not required, but if you would like a quick training on the layout of the library, how to search for books or how to check books in and out of the computer you can contact Shannon Lee at library@archwaylincoln.org.
