Week of 5/6/19


Important Dates
  1. Thursday, May 9th: Part 5 (rough draft) of Insect Report due. Part 5 of the Insect Report was sent home Friday. Teachers will be helping students with graphic organizers throughout the next few school days to support the writing process at home.
  2. Friday, May 10th: No School
  3. Friday, May 17th: Final Insect Report due
  4. Wednesday, May 22nd: Insect Museum 

Announcements
 
5/6 - 5/10 will be our last week of Spalding spelling words coming home to make room for cursive practice and tying up loose ends in the last weeks of school.

A Look in the Classroom
 1.     ELA: We will be concluding our study of contractions and moving on to possessive nouns. Also, we will be looking at the difference of synonyms and antonyms and the shades of meaning among words. To wrap up writing for the year, we will be practicing our paragraph writing. 2.     History: We will enrich our Civil Rights Leaders unit by reading about figures such as Ruby Bridges and Sojourner Truth.3.     Science: Students will finish their review of social insects. We are also talking about helpful and harmful insects.4.     Math: This week we will be finishing up our Geometry Unit.  We will then be working on a cumulative review in preparation for our end of year Singapore test which will be given on May 15th.

Assessments
 1.     Friday: Spelling Test
